I often get messages from people "Why do you put a watermark over your images - it ruins them?" - and these are the more polite messages.
The process of taking, processing then presenting images to customers is a reasonably large investment in time, in particular because I keep pricing low as at the end of the day I'm out there more out of a love for bikes than a desire to make money - trust me on that one! Any money I make goes straight back into the equipment I buy to keep taking well lit, sharp action shots of you guys on your pride and joy on "any given Sunday". In fact I have a day job that keeps me extremely busy during the working week, and photography for me is more of a "reason to go out for a ride" than to make bread for my family.
So, when I've finished a day of shooting then editing images, why do I plaster a fat logo across them all? Well, it's because when I didn't, some people thought it was just fine to screenshot or right-click and save those images, then edit them taking out the small logo in the corner, and publish them right on their social media - as though all the effort put in to obtain and present that image was their's by right! Out of a sense of fairness, I put the logo across because, if people are still gonna do that (and they do!) at least I get a little advertising.
For purchasing options, I include a Social Media shot (Label: Social), which would be around the size of a large postcard if printed. This is ideal for you to share your ride on the various platforms available to you.
For those that want to keep a High Resolution shot on a budget, I offer the full resolution (typically 14-24MB!!, Label: Keeper), which would be a very large poster print if you wanted to print it.
For people who simply don't want a logo at all, I have the same High Resolution shot but with no logo (Label: The Full Monty). Same print capability, but with no logo.
For those that choose a logo option, here's a sample of what they will get:
The main reason however that I run this website, is to offer "real" print options. The website is linked to an Australian printer that I have tested to ensure that my high level of standard is met or exceeded. From an extensive range on offer, I have selected only those prints that I think will do justice to my images, and those are the ones on offer. For me, having photos printed and put on peoples walls is very special. My house is covered with prints I've had framed from my various travels, and I love it. Its a thrill every time someone orders a print or a canvas - because I know that they will see this picture often, and that it'll remind them of a great day riding around in our beautiful corner of the World!
